Smart lock installation, done right the first time

A smart lock is only as good as the installation. If the deadbolt rubs on the strike or the door doesn’t line up, the motor strains, batteries die early and the lock jams. We check your door first, fit the lock to it, adjust the strike and door so the bolt moves freely, then set it up and test it with you before we leave.

What we install

  • Keypad deadbolts — enter with a code; most keep a backup key.
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth smart locks — lock and unlock from your phone and share access with family, cleaners or guests.
  • Keypad handlesets — full front-door hardware with a keypad built in.
  • Business keypad locks and access control — see commercial locksmith.

We work with Schlage, Kwikset, Yale and other major brands. We can supply the lock, or install one you already bought.

How the installation works

  1. Check the door. Door thickness, the existing holes and how the door closes — so we know the lock will fit and work.
  2. Remove the old hardware and prepare the door for the new lock.
  3. Mount and align. We install the lock and adjust the strike so the bolt throws without rubbing.
  4. Set it up and test. Codes, the app if it has one, and several lock/unlock tests with the door closed.

The price is agreed before any work starts. Cash or card (card payments carry a 4% fee). Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 6pm.

Smart lock tips

  • Keep a backup key somewhere safe, not under the mat — if the batteries die, the key still opens the door.
  • Change the batteries when the lock warns you, and don’t wait until it stops.
  • Give each person their own code so you can remove one without changing everyone’s.

Smart lock FAQ

Can you install a smart lock I already bought?

Yes. We install locks you bought yourself, check that they fit your door and set up the codes with you.

Will a smart lock fit my door?

Most smart locks fit standard residential doors. We check the door thickness and the existing holes first, and tell you before we start if anything needs to change.

Do smart locks still have a key?

Most do. Many keypad and smart locks keep a backup key cylinder in case the batteries die.

Can the backup key match my other house keys?

In many cases, yes — we can rekey the backup cylinder so one key works on all your locks.

What are your hours?

Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 6pm.
